Hi, I’m Laura!

Laura Chappell – Founder of Unique Parenting (and its sister company Teen Revolution)

Laura Chappell is a Life and Empowerment Coach for adolescents struggling to navigate the teenage years, and for their parents. She helps to reduce challenging behaviours in these teens by improving communication between family members; increasing understanding of themselves and each other, and building mutual respect within the home environment, so families may discover a deeper level of connection and harmony within the household.

Laura has a decade of experience in specialist front line roles focussing on young people who have survived trauma. These include evaluating a wellbeing program for refugee youths; providing intensive support to young people living in foster care and residential homes transitioning into the community; and protecting ‘at high risk’ children as a caseworker in an elite child protection unit of the NSW Government. She is also the Founder of Unique Parentings sister company, Teen Revolution, a company working in schools with teens engaging in problematic risk-taking teenagers, their parents and teachers.

Laura’s unique experiences of challenging, high-pressure roles, her Psychology degree, trauma informed training and over 20 years working with families, led her to create her signature ‘Unity Framework’. By focusing on the parent-child relationship and individuals within the family, this novel approach facilitates long term behavioural and cultural change within the home environment, and beyond. Every family member will feel seen, heard, and honoured for who they are and, as a result, thrive in all areas of their lives.

Laura is an English woman living in Sydney with her two dogs, a cat and an excessive number of plants.

UNIQUE PARENTING

Unique Parenting works intensively with families to support teenagers struggling with life, in the home environment. By raising self-awareness, increasing mutual understanding, improving communication and strengthening connection, long term behavioural and cultural change is created within the family. Subsequently, positive shifts occur in other areas of life, such as at school and the workplace.

Unique Parenting Coaches and Mentors work with family members both individually and as a unit, within the family home. Unique Parentings’ signature ‘Unity Framework’ combines personal development techniques, educational material and practical skills to bridge the gap between family members and strengthen bonds so they can move forward positively as a team.

Sessions are guided by an initial assessment identifying the needs and goals of the family and its members. These include unpacking thoughts and feelings around challenging situations; processing past incidents; improving skills such as effective communication and emotional regulation; increasing knowledge around teenage development and relevant issues such as social media and self-esteem, and what to do about them.

"everyone needs a house to live in, but a supportive family is what builds a home."
